How long does a perm last?
A perm last an average of 6 to 9 months depending on washing frequency and hair texture. The more frequently you shampoo, the faster the curl can relax. Finer hair may loosen sooner, while thicker or coarser hair usually holds the curl longer.
How long does a perm take?
It usually takes 2 to 4 hours. It all depends on the length and thickness of your hair as well as the type of curl you’d like. To give you an idea -A tight spiral perm on long hair will take about 4+ hours. A soft beach wave perm on short hair will take about 2 hours.
Can a perm be done on all hair types?
Yes! Whether you have straight, curly, thick or very fine hair – there is a perm for all hair types. The most important thing is that your hair is healthy and not damaged.
When should I not get a perm?
If your hair has been bleached numerous times and is dry or brittle we don’t recommend it.
If someone really wants a perm regardless, we have them come in for a test strand. We take a few strands underneath at the nape of the neck and do the perm on these pieces.
In the same breath if you’ve done highlights and your hair is healthy you can definitely do a perm. (As you can see in the pictures below).
How long do I have to wait before washing my perm?
You need to wait 48 hours before wetting or washing your hair to avoid deactivating your perm.
